HoN 3.1 - The Runic Shift
== General ==
- The Early Access Program has been suspended indefinitely
+ These changes were made in an effort to make one of our most important pieces of content, Heroes, become more creative, engaging, and exciting. While there is no longer a definitive schedule you can still expect to see new (and better!) Heroes added to the game. Also be on the lookout for more reworks due to this change in direction.
- Heroes will no longer be mandatorily created and released every 4 weeks
* Heroes are available to everyone immediately upon release
- Added new Hero: Sir Benzington
* Nimble and deadly, Benzington is a highly mobile melee ganking Hero that also gains increased attack range. Knightfall and Joust allows for engagements at incredible distances making Benzington an intimidating force anytime an enemy is spotted.
* Joust - Target a direction to dash forward up to 900 units, passing through the first enemy Hero hit and stopping. Enemies hit receive 100/170/240/310 Magic Damage and a 0.7 second stun.
* Royal Stomp - Activate to pull all nearby enemies 200/250/300/350 units towards you and reduce enemy Movement Speed by 40% for 2/2.5/3/3.5 seconds.
* Lance-A-Long - Passively increases your Attack Range by 50/100/150/200. Activate to boost your next attack to 428 range and add up to 100/180/260/340 Magic Damage. Your attacks passively build up to 5 charges, increasing the damage when you activate it.
* Knightfall - Target an enemy at considerable range to leap into the air and become invulnerable for 3 seconds. When you land, you deal 200/350/500 Magic Damage and apply a 50% tapering slow for 2 seconds in a 400/500/600 radius.
* This Hero will be released with 2 avatars. One is a Premium Alt Avatar and the other is introducing a new type of avatar called the Debut Edition (in lieu of the previous exclusive EA Alt Avatar). Debut Edition Alt Avatars are sold for a limited period of time after the release of a hero. They are not exclusively limited to that period of time and may reappear within the store at a later time.

IMPORTANT! - Hero Release Schedule Change
You have probably noticed that there was no Hero Teaser released this past Friday. This was due to a shift in our release schedule corresponding with the huge patch we're releasing in the next few weeks. Not only will you see our newest Hero in that patch, but also some very exciting new content that has been in the works for a very long time.
While we've hinted in the past that a big balance patch is set for release at the conclusion of the HoN Tour Grand Finals, we realize the effect that wait has had on the community. We know that everyone in the HoN community is hungry to see what's next and it brings us a great sense of pride to see how vocal everyone has been leading up to this point.

MuFC TteSports Disbanded, but PixieBaby is not giving up yet!
It seems that one of the strongest team in Garena SEA competitive scene, MuFC TteSports, lead by `kiDDo, had been disbanded after the TMHNC finals. But none of us knew the actual reason behind it. This was the message they left for their fans and supporters before MuFC was disbanded.

We are so sorry that we are going to release our HoN team. The reason is merely because some of us have to focus on our personal lives and can no longer commit to our full-time gaming career.

More about HoN 3.0
My first experiences in the MOBA genre went something like this: "What do you mean last-hitting and how come these towers keep shooting me? I'm a hero, for freak's sake!" to which my teammate would respond, "Quit feeding and die in a fire." It was a confusing and tumultuous time. Thankfully, the genre has taken a turn for the better, adding more in-depth tutorials, bot matches, and various other aids to help new players transition into the game and beef up the competitive numbers.
Heroes of Newerth is no exception. S2 Games is preparing to globally launch (yes, everywhere at the same time) patch 3.0 on January 31st, 2013, and it will include a lane full of visual enhancements, bots with customizable AI, and a stronger emphasis on teaching new players the ropes.
Could HoN establish itself as the MOBA for new players of the genre? We trekked to a demo in San Francisco last week to find out.
Possibly the most important additions to HoN are focused on improving the new player experience. Bot matches will now be available for casual play, a huge relief to seasoned noobs like yours truly. A popular feature in the hit League of Legends, bot matches have brought a whole new community of casual players to MOBAs because facing the AI is one of the easiest and least terrifying ways to learn about the basics of classic 5v5 MOBA gameplay.
"We've completely revamped the new player experience, not only by adding bots but by making a whole new walkthrough system that teaches players how to play the game by matching them against bots," said Ryan McDaniel, Lead Content Manager for S2 Games. "The walkthrough gets people into playing HoN much faster than the old tutorial."
Upon completing the walkthrough, players will gain access to the new Learnitorium. This in-game feature acts as an archive for videos, tutorials, and Hero decks and information.
"Some of our balance designers have been working on new video series to help teach basics of MOBA gameplay, and eventually, we'll expand to more advanced tactics," says director of operations Nathan Garcia.

Bushwack - Hero Teaser

Now he is one of the most feared hunters of the southern parts of Death's Cradle,
using his troll cunning and dwarven ingenuity, to eliminate foes from
great distances. Even though he works alone he is steadfast in the
protection of his home and has aligned himself with the Helbourne who
are also enemies of the Dwarves. Meeting the Electrician and Dr.
Repulsor cemented his belief that the only way for his people to survive
in these changing times is through harnessing technology, and leaving
the voodoo behind.
Bushwack is a short-ranged agility carry who hunts his targets through great mobility and deadly poison.
